WOV #651, "Shine, Jesus, Shine"
Devotion
I first heard this song was in England at a World Mission Conference with participants from many denominations from all over the world. The song was led by its composer, Graham Kendrick. Many participants sang it in their native tongue. It was a Pentecost experience.
The chorus goes like this: "Shine, Jesus, shine, fill this land with the Father's glory; blaze, Spirit, blaze, set our hearts on fire; flow, river, flow, flood the nations with love and mercy; send forth your Word, Lord, and let there be light." It really moved me.
Since then, I have sung it many times privately, in church, and on the streets of Winters, Texas, where I participate each year in a "March for Jesus" (a global program, designed by Kendrick to get us "out on the streets of our towns and cities with praise").
Prayer
Jesus, light of the world, shine upon us, set us free by the truth you now bring us, shine on me, shine on me. Amen.
