LBW #89, “O How Good To Be Here”
Devotion
The hymn writer, Joseph Robinson, invites us in poetry and song to be with Peter, James, John and Jesus on the mountain. It is good to be with the Lord whose “glory fills the night” and whose presence with Moses and Elijah illumines Jesus as “fulfiller of the past and hope of things.” It is good to be here, to have our faith confirmed, “yet we may not remain.” The way of Jesus goes on to Jerusalem. The glory of God revealed in the face of Jesus, calls us back from the mountain to the plain and thus to the pain of our world.
Prayer
Thank you God for confirming our wavering faith in the witness and experiences of the apostles and saints who have gone before us. Amen.
