Verse 8Good and upright is the Lord; therefore he instructs sinners in the way.
Verse 9He leads the humble in what is right, and teaches the humble his way.
Verse 10All the paths of the Lord are steadfast love and faithfulness, for those who keep his covenant and his decrees.
Devotion
I once got a fortune that read, “Simplicity of character is the natural result of profound thought.” I have kept that slip of paper because it reminds me of the connection between reflection and humility. In this passage from the Psalms, God leads the humble in what is right, a life we would do well to lead. Self-awareness and reflection enable us to listen to God’s voice, and follow God’s way.
Prayer
O Lord, open our ears that we might hear your word, our eyes that we might see your face, and our hearts that we might live like you. Amen.
