Devotion
“And they will hurl insults and spit at him and whip him and they will kill him—but on the third day he will rise.” Who are they? Is Jesus only talking about the crowd in Jerusalem? Or is he looking into the deepest parts of all our hearts and reminding us that far too often we worship ourselves rather than our Lord? During Lent, we remember that our sin contributed to the fervor that reached its apex with Christ’s death. But while we are weak, Jesus rises, and returns to show how small our sin is compared with the grace of God.
Prayer
In our fraility, when we fail to love our all your children as you taught us, let us have greater faith in the ressurection than in ourselves. Amen.
