WOV #781, "My Life Flows on in Endless Song"
Devotion
I remember who it was who first introduced me to this old hymn. His earthy character and solid theology spoke of honesty and hope. Although I don’t remember this hymn as part of my Lutheran tradition, its words and rhythm convey a passion for the gospel. So when this respected Lutheran pastor shared the spirit and rhythm of this hymn, I too was captured by its joy.
I hope that in studying the three resurrection stories in Luke 24, you are impressed by the good news of the resurrection which cannot be silenced by terror, doubt, confusion or fear. The closing thought of the refrain pulls together the reality of life within God’s new reality. "Since Christ is Lord of heaven and earth, how can I keep from singing?"
Prayer
Open our eyes, open our minds, open our hearts, Lord, to the wonder of your resurrection. And then, let us sing of your glory with all our might. Amen.
