LBW #433,“The Church of Christ, in Every Age”
Devotion
This hymn reminds us that as members of Christ’s body in the world, we are to share our lives just as Jesus shared his life.
For he alone, whose blood was shed,
Can cure the fever in our blood,
And teach us how to share our bread
And feed the starving multitude
Today we remember and thank God for Luke, the Gospel writer who wrote both Luke and Acts. Paul calls Luke the “beloved physician.” We all know the positive benefits of staying in shape and being healthy. Today we are reminded that the Gospel wasn’t just for life in heaven after we die, but abundant life right here and now, and that the Great Physician calls us to share our lives in service to those who need.
We have no mission but to serve
In full obedience to our Lord;
To care for all, without reserve,
And spread his liberating Word
Prayer
Almighty God, guide physicians and nurses and all people who care for those sick in body, in mind, or in spirit. Strengthen them by your Spirit, that the health of all people may be promoted and your creation may be glorified. Through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
