Verse 1Be gracious to me, O God, for people trample on me; all day long foes oppress me;
Verse 2my enemies trample on me all day long, for many fight against me. O Most High,
Verse 3when I am afraid, I put my trust in you.
Devotion
The Psalms are honest about life. At times, we feel trampled upon, fought against by foes. We feel that our cause is injured, that others’ thoughts against us are evil. In these moments, God keeps count of our tossing and turning—caring enough to treasure our tears. We can, therefore, say with the psalmist: “in God I trust, I am not afraid. What can a mere mortal do to me?”
Prayer
I will give thanks to you, O God. In you I trust and am not afraid. Amen.
