Verse 10Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his power. Verse 11Put on the whole armor of God, so that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. Verse 12For our struggle is not against enemies of blood and flesh, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers of this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places. Verse 13Therefore take up the whole armor of God, so that you may be able to withstand on that evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm.
Devotion
Stand firm in the faith. The powers of evil among us are cunning and insidious. They find seemingly minor ways of getting into our lives: when we are oblivious to apparently innocent tactics, when we overlook the little things, or when we think we’re busily working for good and for God. We will need all the help we can get, but attending to the word of God, to prayer, and to all the gifts of the Spirit will keep us well-armed in our ongoing and perilous struggle against the powers of evil.
Prayer
Quiltmaker God, weave the little threads of your work in our lives into a patchwork that is resistant to evil, is pleasing to you, will build up the church, and be good for the world. Amen.
