Verse 6Until the day breathes and the shadows flee, I will hasten to the mountain of myrrh and the hill of frankincense.
Devotion
Now, deep into the season of Lent, we find ourselves surrounded by darkness and shadows. Yet the author of Songs can delight in his beloved, the one in whom he finds comfort and love. Traveling through our own darkness and shadows, the author reminds us of the friendly Christmas images of frankincense and myrrh, and the hope the Three Kings had for their future Savior. We too can hold onto that same hope for a shining light that brings comfort and love at the end of our Lenten journey.
Prayer
God of Hope, be like a shining star to us who are in the depths of our own shadows, so we too many celebrate in the light you provide for all. Amen.
