Renewing Worship 182, “The Trumpets Sound, the Angels Sing”
Devotion
Today, I have the Sunday off, and I was able to worship with my mother at my home congregation – Bethel in Willmar, Minnesota As I went forward for communion, I looked around at the faces of my former Sunday school and vacation bible school teachers, confirmation leaders and youth group advisers. There were friends that our family camped with at Bethel camp-outs and old school friends that now have children of their own. Thanks to these folks, I grew up surrounded by the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
I could not help but also recall those faces who no longer sit in those pews – those who have joined the Saints in Light – including my own father. A little wine and a little bread for us on this side of the table, but a great feast and reunion with them awaits us.
That’s a promise to hold on to.
Prayer
Thank you, God, for your heavenly love and light and the invitation to feast with you in this life and the next. Amen.
