Verse 16But when he had become strong he grew proud, to his destruction. For he was false to the Lord his God, and entered the temple of the Lord to make offering on the altar of incense.
Devotion
Uzziah was one of the good kings of Judah. In The Message, the Chronicler calls him “… a loyal seeker of God.” The Uzziah years were good years for Judah militarily, economically and religiously. Then “… strength and success went to his head. Arrogant and proud, he fell.” Uzziah was neither the first nor the last to fall victim to the spiritual danger of success. He stands as a powerful reminder to us to be on our toes when success comes our way, lest it drag us into a spiritual pit.
Prayer
We thank you for those times we know success, Lord; but we also ask that they not go to our heads. Amen.
