Psalm 73:3 (NRSV)

Verse 3For I was envious of the arrogant; I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
Devotion
Who doesn’t resent a wealthy person who is corrupt and manipulative? “They don’t deserve what they have,” we say; or, “See how they grow rich on other people’s work!”
But the psalmist remembers that, though we may resent wicked people who prosper, this resentment does us no good: “Whom have I in heaven but you?” Wealth is meaningless, and wickedness will not gain us salvation.
Prayer
Lord, remind me that all I need is you. Amen.
