Verse 32Now the whole group of those who believed were of one heart and soul, and no one claimed private ownership of any possessions, but everything they owned was held in common. Verse 33With great power the apostles gave their testimony to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, and great grace was upon them all. Verse 34There was not a needy person among them, for as many as owned lands or houses sold them and brought the proceeds of what was sold. Verse 35They laid it at the apostles' feet, and it was distributed to each as any had need.
Devotion
What power – ours? Of course not. His! For whom is that power? It is “for us who believe.” What is that power? It is “the immeasurable greatness of his power for us who believe, according to the working of his great power. God put this power to work in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places.” (Ephesians 1:19-20)
If that power was strong enough to overcome death and majestic enough to seat Jesus at God’s right hand, just imagine what that power can do for us – and through us – today!
Christ is risen! May our lives reply in echoes of the early believers who were of one heart and mind and who laid down their riches and lives in worship of Jesus. The world desperately craves a response. Jesus’ resurrection gives us the power to respond. He is risen indeed!
Prayer
Oh, the transforming power of Your death and resurrection, dear Lord! May it, by Your grace through me today, be manifest and magnificent to the salvation of many and to the praise and glory of Jesus Christ. Amen.
