WOV 748, “Bind Us Together”
Devotion
Happy birthday! On Pentecost, we celebrate the amazing things that God has done – and continues to do – for and through his people. It’s a day to be grateful for congregations large and small, where people come together to hear the Word, sing, be fed and offer prayers and praise to the Lord. Those congregations are also where friendships are nurtured, hearts are touched, wounded souls are cared for and ministry happens.
Are they perfect? No. Our churches are filled with real people, who often treat one another in ways more human than heavenly. But churches serve a vital role for people of faith. They can give us a place to gather, a place to encourage, a place to make mistakes, a place to grow and a place to be accepted just as we are. What an incredible gift God has given us in the church!
Prayer
Lord, thank you for giving us the church as a place where our faith is fed and we can care for one another. Bless churches everywhere, that they may be healthy, hopeful and strong. Amen.
