WOV 777, “In the Morning When I Rise: Give me Jesus”
Devotion
“Just about the break of day … give me Jesus.” It was that way on the first Easter, in the unperceived hope of the women who went to the tomb, that about the break of the day they would be given Jesus. We gather for worship with that hope in heart, soul, body, mind and strength.
“Oh, when I come to die … give me Jesus.” It will be that way at the moment of our Easter by God’s grace – that unseen hope of beholding the eyes of Jesus and knowing him and being known by him forever. We worship with that hope in heart, soul, body, mind and strength
“And when I want to sing … give me Jesus.” It is that way when we open our mouths and the song on our tongues is Jesus. Whether the music that springs from our vocal cords is wonderful or horrible, it is Jesus that is on the tongue.
Prayer
Gracious God, thank you for today. Thank you for the week to come. Thank you for eternity beyond time with you. Amen.
