Devotion
Psalm 91 has served throughout the centuries and continues to serve as a source of encouragement and strength for the people of God. The devil quotes Psalm 91:11-12 to tempt Jesus to jump from the pinnacle of the temple, but Jesus refuses to claim God’s promise of protection for his own benefit. Jesus says, to do so would be to test rather than to trust God (see also Matt 4:5-7).
Webster’s Dictionary defines trust as a basic dependence on someone or something. Trust is found in our unwavering belief that God will indeed work on our behalf to bring his perfect will for our lives. It is only when we completely trust God that he gives us the power of his direction and the power of his presence.
Prayer
