LBW 559, “Oh, for a Thousand Tongues to Sing”
Devotion
We have much to proclaim to God’s creation on its behalf. The God of all creation remains faithful; this God creates and redeems through the death and resurrection of Jesus, the only Son of God.
We now pray for God to loose “a thousand tongues” to give praise to creation’s Redeemer; more specifically, I pray that God loose my tongue. There is no other being deserving of God’s glory; he alone triumphs over sin and death through grace. We pray that each of us would be God’s instrument of proclamation.
Only the name of Jesus calms our fears; and there is much fear, especially in those who stand face to face with the Accuser. Jesus himself breaks the power of all sin, setting us free.
Prayer
O Lord, may each of us this day proclaim your word of grace, of forgiveness, of promise, of salvation, to at least one of your beloved creatures. Amen.
