Verse 8"Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. Verse 9"Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. Verse 10"Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Devotion
Why is God’s peace so different from peace as the world knows it? It is because it embodies a pureness of heart that allows us to see Christ when we look into the eyes of our neighbor. Blessed are those who are the peacemakers, for they build bridges of reconciliation with God’s people. As people of God, we live our lives reminded that there is no longer Greek or Jew, Christian or Muslim, slave or free, rich or poor, insider or outsider, for we are all inheritors of the kingdom. Blessed is the church and the body of Christ throughout the world. Blessed are those who seek the way, for theirs is the kingdom of God.
Prayer
We thank you, God, and pray that we remember to share your story and love with the world. Teach us to give ourselves to others as you gave yourself to us, and may we experience a glimpse of the kingdom with each other. Amen.
