Verse 11Then I looked, and I heard the voice of many angels surrounding the throne and the living creatures and the elders; they numbered myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands, Verse 12singing with full voice, "Worthy is the Lamb that was slaughtered to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might and honor and glory and blessing!" Verse 13Then I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea, and all that is in them, singing, "To the one seated on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and might forever and ever!" Verse 14And the four living creatures said, "Amen!" And the elders fell down and worshiped.
Devotion
There is an image from the space shuttle https://www.luthersem.edu/godpause/images/earth_edge.jpg that shows the edge of night as it spreads across the continents, followed by a wave of electric lights coming on as darkness deepens.
I like to picture our Sunday worship that way. With an average attendance of about 60, our services at times seem small, flat and unimpressive. But I imagine Sunday worship from God’s perspective – God receiving the Gloria, the Lord’s Prayer and the Apostles Creed from myriad voices, in thousands of languages, from church after church, region after region, through age after age, spreading with the coming of light across the continents. And this worship is but a foretaste of things to come!
Prayer
God of all creation, we join our hearts and voices to the praises of your people from every time and place, every kin and corner. Receive our prayers, revive our spirits and restore us to the joy of your salvation through Christ our Lord. Amen.
