“Rise Up, O Saints of God,” ELW 669
Devotion
The gospel calls us to be bold, resourceful and diligent in our faith as Christ is the same for us. Monday’s text from Amos called us to be aware of those around us and our impact on their lives. Certainly that’s what Christ’s death and resurrection are for us. He is aware of our need for salvation and acts to impact it. Tuesday’s lesson calls us to be faithful in our prayers. That psalm, 113, lets us know who God is, what God is up to in our lives and in the world.
Therefore, again, what is our response to be? We are saints of God.
Prayer
Dear God, raise us up from the waters of baptism. Raise us up from the grave of death. Raise us up from the tomb of hopelessness. Raise us up to be bold – to have a gracious, loving impact in the lives of those around us. Raise us up through your Spirit’s power, for you declare us your saints, O God. Amen.
