Devotion
When I was 11 years old, I had to walk home from school by myself through a rubber plantation. One evening it was dark, the thunder was loud and lightning flashed. Branches were swaying and creaking in the thunderstorm. I was scared.
Then this hymn came to me: “Precious Lord, take my hand, lead me on, help me stand … ” This hymn has helped me in many stormy times in my life since then.
For those who are weary, tired with burdens of life, Jesus knows your need. Jesus, who was born in a manger, died on the cross, rose from the dead, ascended into heaven and will come again, can empower you. He knows your need, holds your hand and carries you through.
Prayer
I pray for people who are depressed and overburdened so that they can experience God’s uplifting power. Amen.
