Verse 11Finally, brothers and sisters, farewell. Put things in order, listen to my appeal, agree with one another, live in peace; and the God of love and peace will be with you. Verse 12Greet one another with a holy kiss. All the saints greet you. Verse 13The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with all of you.
Devotion
“Finally, brothers and sisters, rejoice! Strive for full restoration, encourage one another, be of one mind, live in peace.” There is so much that could be said about this passage of scripture, especially in light of our situations in Iraq and Afghanistan. Christians and non-Christians, alike, stand on both sides of the issue. So one has to wonder if it really is possible to be of one mind and to live in peace.
On a much smaller scale, I believe it is, and here is why: As brothers and sisters in Christ, our focus is to be on God, and God alone. We’re not to worry about what others think about us, or how others might treat us. And although that is much easier said than done, if we are striving to keep our mind on things above rather than on things of this earth, then we’ll find it much easier to be at peace with one another.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, help us to truly strive to be at peace with one another. Amen.
