Verse 16Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. Verse 17When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. Verse 18And Jesus came and said to them, "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Verse 19Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, Verse 20and teaching them to obey everything that I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age."
Devotion
This past summer I returned to Iowa for my brother’s wedding. When we pulled into the parking lot, there was a sign posted that said, “Welcome to … ” When we left the parking lot, we noticed the back of that same sign read, “You are now entering your mission field.”
What a great way to live out this verse in Matthew 28. We don’t have to be pastors or theologians or formally trained in any way in order to be disciples of Christ. We simply have to be willing to be used by God. Jesus hand-picked his disciples, who weren’t trained in any formal manner; yet they spread the gospel message. Regardless of who you are, or even how young or old you are, you, too, can go and make disciples. All it takes is an open and willing heart to be an instrument for the Kingdom of God.
Prayer
Father God, help us to do our part as we maximize the Kingdom for you. Amen.
