Accept, O Lord, the Gifts We Bring, ELW 691 & WOV 759
Devotion
This delightful hymn keeps life in perspective: We’re human beings. Many of us try to do the best we can, yet sometimes we fall short. But at the end of the day, God loves us anyway, and the most gratifying thing we can do is love God back.
Everything we do that shows God our love is called worship. Oftentimes, that takes place Sunday mornings, but not always – every moment of every day is a chance to worship God. We worship through our praise and our prayers, by our giving to and our learning more about God.
Think for a minute about why and to whom you give. Remember that your gifts are a way of showing God your love. And know that God accepts whatever we bring when we bring it with a joyful and grateful heart.
Prayer
Accept, O Lord, the gifts we bring to place upon your table.
We do not worship as we ought, but only as we’re able. (v. 1)
Our hopes and dreams, our toils and cares we lift in prayer before you.
Lord, by your grace now come to us, as humbly we adore you. (v. 3)
Amen.
