Verse 4In his hand are the depths of the earth; the heights of the mountains are his also.
Verse 5The sea is his, for he made it, and the dry land, which his hands have formed.
Verse 6O come, let us worship and bow down, let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker!
Verse 7For he is our God, and we are the people of his pasture, and the sheep of his hand. O that today you would listen to his voice!
Devotion
Perhaps you say: ”Who, me? Sing?” That’s right. Give up some joyful noise to the rock of our salvation, God above all gods, and maker of the universe! And when isn’t God present? So, all of our daily living is to reflect worship and praise to the God who chose us, who gives us life and salvation, and knits us together into a community of faith. God’s desire is not that we save the best song for church.
If we take God at His word, then this changes everything; the way we move into our day, the way we speak, think, relate, work, spend, schedule, prioritize. All of life, the Psalmist shouts, is pregnant with the presence of God! With such a vision of life, it is not hard to imagine a song crossing the lips of even the most musically-challenged among us; everyday. Let’s get noisy, people of God!
Prayer
To you, O God, we bow down. The song we offer is a life well-lived, giving glory to you, and reflecting the evidence of our faith. Continue to walk closely with us, Creator God, and be at work in us that we might, indeed, sing out our thanks and praise. Amen.
