Verse 4But God, who is rich in mercy, out of the great love with which he loved us Verse 5even when we were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ-by grace you have been saved- Verse 6and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, Verse 7so that in the ages to come he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.
Devotion
By the middle of Lent it can be challenging to remember exactly where we are headed with our renewed disciplines. Taking time for daily devotions is a part of the journey that helps us see the destination. Today’s text is a brief selection from a much longer litany of praise for God’s mercy and grace. Like the bend in the road that once offered pilgrims the first glimpse of an ancient cathedral or shrine, these words calls us forward to a new life of grace in Jesus Christ. How do you sense God’s future unfolding in your life?
Prayer
God, rich in mercy and full of grace, thank you for raising us up with Christ. Having seen our Easter destination, help us live each day with the assurance that we belong to you forever. We remember those who are ill or frail or dying today. In Christ’s name we pray. Amen.
