All Things Bright and Beautiful WOV 767
Refrain
All things bright and beautiful, all creatures great and small, all things wise and wonderful, the Lord God made them all.
1 Each little flower that opens, each little bird that sings, God made their glowing colors, God made their tiny wings.
Refrain
2 The purple headed mountains, the river running by, the sunset, and the morning that brightens up the sky.
Refrain
3 The cold wind in the winter, the pleasant summer sun, the ripe fruits in the garden, God made them ev'ry one.
Refrain
4 God gave us eyes to see them, and lips that we might tell how great is God Almighty, who has made all things well.
Devotion
In outdoor ministries, we have the privilege of living for long periods of time in Christian community in some of the most beautiful places on God's earth. Throughout the summer, among mountains and rivers, birds and flowers, 20-somethings discover with their peers that they can have faith questions and still sing God's praise. Children gain confidence and courage through making it to the top of the mountain, and the fringe kid gets attention from a cool college counselor. Busy parents sit on the cabin deck and let go of their worries, finding rest as they gaze upon a quiet lake. Doing the dishes is no longer a chore, but a fun way of taking care of each other. All these things are bright and beautiful, and the Lord God made them all.
Prayer
Creator God, bless the staff and campers who participate in outdoor ministry this summer. May they see the welcoming face of Jesus Christ in community and creation. Bless the earth and teach us to see and care for its beauty as you do. Amen.
