Verse 3O send out your light and your truth; let them lead me; let them bring me to your holy hill and to your dwelling.
Devotion
Our congregation has a lost and found box. It is interesting to see the items that get lost. Sometimes it is not things which get lost, but people who get lost and lose hope. In Psalm 43, David has lost hope and is at the end of his rope. Verse three is the turning point. David finally cries out to God to send out His light and truth. David realizes his circumstances may not change, but it does not mean he is alone. David also talks to himself, "Why are you cast down O my soul."
When you are lost, in trouble or have lost hope, what do you do? Where do you turn? Do you blame God or cry out to God for help? When we are trying to find our way, we often run to every place or thing except God. Do you place your hope in your job, education, or possessions? Or do you place your hope in God?
Prayer
God of hope and light, when we lose our way and lose hope, remind us that you are with us. Send us your light and your truth. Amen.
