Verse 6Your boasting is not a good thing. Do you not know that a little yeast leavens the whole batch of dough?
Verse 7Clean out the old yeast so that you may be a new batch, as you really are unleavened. For our paschal lamb, Christ, has been sacrificed. Verse 8Therefore, let us celebrate the festival, not with the old yeast, the yeast of malice and evil, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.
Devotion
My wife and I decided the other day that we need to do some serious spring cleaning. It’s time to send the kids off to their grandparents’ house for the weekend and scrub the house from top to bottom.
I have to admit, this is a little scary to me. You never know what you’re going to find when you start to air out what’s been trapped in the house all winter long.
Sometimes we need some spiritual refreshing, too. Yet it’s frightening to uncover ways we haven’t tended to our relationship with God.
There is no need to feel guilty. Instead, we look to the one who can make us new. Christ, the Pascal Lamb, has been sacrificed for us.
Not only that, God has brought abundant life to the world through Christ’s resurrection! Things just aren’t the same. Now is the time to be refreshed and celebrate the promise of new life in Christ.
Prayer
Lord Jesus, when we cannot clean up the messes of our lives, you come to make us new again. Thank you for this marvelous gift. Amen.
