In Christ There Is No East or West, ELW 650
1 In Christ there is no east or west, in him no south or north, but one community of love throughout the whole wide earth.
2 In Christ shall true hearts ev'rywhere their high communion find; his service is the golden cord close binding human kind.
3 Join hands, disciples of the faith, whate'er your race may be.
All children of the living God are surely kin to me.
4 In Christ now meet both east and west, in him meet south and north; all Christly souls are one in him throughout the whole wide earth.
Devotion
(Christ, community, communion, children, Christ). Christ himself, crucified and risen, holds all humanity within the bracket of his love. The Christ-community is directionless, without boundary. There is no need for a compass. The Christ-communion is held together as Christ serves all humanity. The blood-stained, woven robe of the crucified one has become the golden cord holding all humankind close to the heart of Christ and to the hearts of each other. The Christ-children, innocent, trusting one another, hold hands and venture to the ends of earth with the love of God.
Prayer
Bring us together, God, from all nations and peoples. Fill us with your spirit of new life. Send us as your messengers to the four corners of the earth. Amen.
