Verse 23Now before faith came, we were imprisoned and guarded under the law until faith would be revealed. Verse 24Therefore the law was our disciplinarian until Christ came, so that we might be justified by faith. Verse 25But now that faith has come, we are no longer subject to a disciplinarian, Verse 26for in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith. Verse 27As many of you as were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. Verse 28There is no longer Jew or Greek, there is no longer slave or free, there is no longer male and female; for all of you are one in Christ Jesus. Verse 29And if you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's offspring, heirs according to the promise.
Devotion
The family approaches the font with their little infant child, a prince in their eyes—wonderfully and fearfully made. The gown is no longer white but has become yellow with age. It was his great-great grandmother's gown and it has been worn by generation after generation on their baptismal day. The gown remained the same, but each child who wore it at their baptism was different. Each of them grew up to be their own person. All of them received the same precious gift: salvation. Can we see each other with the eyes of faith clothed in such a baptismal garment, or will the law continue to bind our hearts and our minds from seeing the gift? In God's great gift we all share the identity and destiny of Christ.
Prayer
God, unite my heart this day with the hearts of my brothers and sisters I will meet along my day’s path. Amen.
