“On What Has Now Been Sown” (ELW 550)
Devotion
On what has now been sown
your blessing, Lord, bestow;
the pow'r is yours alone
to make it sprout and grow.
O Lord, in grace the harvest raise,
and yours alone shall be the praise!
To you our wants are known,
from you are all our pow'rs;
accept what is your own
and pardon what is ours.
Our praises, Lord, and prayers receive
and to your word a blessing give.
Oh, grant that each of us,
now met before you here,
may meet together thus
when you and yours appear,
and follow you to heav'n, our home.
E'en so, Amen! Lord Jesus, come!
It has been an honor to share some words from us, your partners in Christ on the South Dakota prairie. This Sabbath we simply offer you a doxology of joy:
May the God of prairie and city, hope and heartache, send rain and sun to help continue to grow seeds of faith in you and in your community. May you not be ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ, but may God's power fill you with joy, perseverance, suffering and witness. May the grace of God mark your summer season with joy. And, if your soul needs room to breathe, you are always welcome to visit us in northeastern South Dakota.
Prayer
On what has now been sown, your blessing, Lord, bestow. Amen.
